Signifyd is an end to end solution for fraud protection. It uses machine learning, big data and manual review to provide a guarantee against fraud.

On all approved orders, Signifyd provides INR (item-not-received) and fraud protection. It also includes employee discount protection, promotion abuse protection, and a lot more.

One of their most popular features is automated chargeback recovery.

Signifyd isn’t cheap – it costs $1,500/month and all approved orders are charged at 0.8%.

A lot of Shopify owners are happy to pay to never deal with fraud, customer abuse and chargebacks.

FraudLabs Pro

FraudLabs Pro is a flexible solution that lets you create rules to prevent fraudulent orders.

You can also use their built in FraudLabs Pro score to determine if an order is fraudulent.

ClearSale charges by a percentage of your sales. It varies depending on your store. Looking at the reviews, it looks like it’s around ~1% for most.

Fraud Shield

Fraud uses AI technology to recognize patterns. They assign each of your users a digital person that can be used to prevent fraud.

The free plan evaluates all your transactions and receive a recommendation of low, medium or high.

The paid plan $10/month allows you to customize risk thresholds and set rules.

FraudHooks Unlimited

FraudHooks allows you to automatically cancel orders that Shopify identifies as high or medium risk.

This will automatically cancel, restock and refund.

The app also has a feature to allow you to “simulate” a fraudulent order to test out your shops security.

Extra Verification

This app allows customers to verify themselves by uploading their photo ID.

Repeat customers do not need to re-verify.

You can review the IDs in a dashboard and easily request another photo if the customer uploads a blurry one.

Fraud Scanner

Fraud scanner can automatically cancel or hold orders based on a set of criteria.

The rules you can set include:

This app’s name is self explanatory.

PayPal isn’t a Shopify app – it’s a payment processor. It offers a feature called seller protection.

With seller protection you are covered for “Unauthorized transaction” and “Item Not Received” charge backs.

Your store and transaction must meet PayPal’s requirements:

  • Ship to the address on the Transaction Details page.
  • The item sold must be a physical, tangible item that can be shipped. This means intangible items such as digital goods and services aren’t covered.
  • If we request documentation or other relevant information, we ask that you respond promptly (typically within ten business days).
  • Your permanent address (listed in your PayPal account) must be in the United States.
